My experience working for Mac Haik Chevrolet was educational in many ways, positive and negative. I learned the Chevrolet brand is hugely popular in the Houston area; it's very competitive. I learned their management model was to rotate through employees frequently. In the course of my nine month tenure I saw no fewer than a dozen managers get terminated or demoted and at least 70 salespeople terminated. Management breeds a lack of trust among its co-workers; they encourage deception in the form of spying and snitching instead of teamwork and unity. Compensation was fair, but not enough for the daily abuse you will receive from the management staff.
Location: that place will sell cars per month by mistake, even with poor management. Heavy Schedule, Decent Pay. He was the GM and he would explain why we needed to give Mac Haik Chevy our credit card number over the phone or to send a picture of it to Mac Haik Chevy. I called Ryan, explained my concern with their request, and told him I was blown away that he condoned this practice. He told me he needed to make sure we were serious about purchasing the car I told him we were on our way to the dealership and that I would not be giving him my credit card info Ryan raised his voice and just kept talking over me when I was asking him questions I told him to go ahead and sell the vehicle to someone else then and we would go to another dealership.
I guess they have all the business they need at Mac Haik Chevy? I told him I felt the practice of asking for credit card info over a cell phone, or via a picture through text messaging was unethical, unprofessional and shows disregard for potential credit card fraud if that information got into the wrong hands!
I told him I was still heading up there because I wanted to talk to his boss about the way this deal fell apart and the way Ryan handled the situation. A few minutes after I hung up the phone with Ryan he sent a text that stated that the GM, Josh Potts, was out of the office until Monday. I will be reaching out to Josh on Monday I will be interested to see if Josh condones the practice of asking customers for credit card numbers, or asking them to take a picture of their credit card and sending it to a phone and a person who the prospective customer doesn't even know I am truly disappointed with Mac Haik Chevy and the way they handled this situation.
